Launching FireArc

For the past couple of years, I’ve been working on a question: how can we help communities see their wildfire exposure before a fire arrives?

That work has become FireArc, a Canadian company I’ve founded to turn satellite imagery, geospatial analysis, and observations from the air and ground into information people can use to protect their communities.

My years as a bush pilot in Northern Ontario gave me an appreciation for what you can see from the air—and how much you can miss from the ground. FireArc brings that perspective together with my work in technology and strategy.

We look at how a fire could reach a community, what lies in its path, and where action could reduce the potential for loss. That includes the surrounding forest, but also buildings, roads, power lines, and the routes people would depend on to get out.

I want FireArc to help a fire chief, municipal planner, or infrastructure owner understand where to look more closely and what to address first. Every assessment should be supported by evidence and lead to a practical next step.

It’s taken a lot of research, development, and questioning assumptions to get here. I’m pleased to finally share it.

You can learn more at firearc.ca. If this connects with work you’re doing, I’d welcome a conversation.
